What is a name?
A name is very important. You wouldn't want your name to mean something like "one who is sad" or "dreadful" or "tree".
In old times a name was very special and chosen with care.
What about a name like Amiel? What do you think it means?
Amiel is a Hebrew name and it means god of my people.
Ok here is another name. What about Alexander? What do you think it may mean? Well Alexander actually is a Greek name and it means defender of mankind. How would you feel to be named a name like that an everyone who you introduce yourself to knows the meaning of your name. You would feel proud.
Also some people choose names because it is a name that has been used in their family or a father wants to name his sons after him. Did you know some mother's name one of their daughters after them? It is not as widely used custom but there is nothing wrong with it.
As a side not: PARENTS please do NOT name your child a name like ABCDE , Ebenezer, or something like Chloris, or Apple. Some names may start of sounding cute when you name them as a baby but when they get into there teens or to be fifty years old names that were once cute are not the same.

A baby is a gift and a miracle. Just remember that as long as the name is choosen out of love that is all that counts.
